Direction Scarlino

Direction Scarlino
In the heart of the Tuscan Maremma, between the wood and the sea, there is a village to be discovered

Scarlino is Cala Violina, a natural and wonderful beach-jewel. Scarlino is Cala Martina, from where in 1849 Garibaldi left by sea to escape the papal guards and reach Portovenere. Scarlino is the Rocca Pisana, a 10th century castle reachable by a panoramic road that can also be traveled on a Vespa. Scarlino is a slice of the gulf where the exclusive Swan boats compete and a touristic port where luxury yachts dock. Scarlino is the Fiumara canal with the typical fishing boats.

Scarlino is countryside, with its family-run farms. Scarlino is nature: paths surrounded by greenery suitable for those who love walking, steep roads for the lovers of two wheels or long tree-lined avenues for those who go on horse, reserves where you can coddle the Amiata donkeys from the Ponte alle Catene livestock that produce the milk donated to the pediatric hospital in Florence. Scarlino is tradition: the characteristic restaurants between the hill and the sea where you can taste typical Maremma dishes, from the "tortello al ragù" to the stewed wild boar, to the fish caught in the gulf and cooked on the grill or eaten uncooked.

Scarlino is a holiday in freedom and safety: a sea to be experienced with its bays and the Puntone beach, the paths dedicated to bikers in the Bandite nature reserve between paths and mule tracks, a horse ride in one of the stables in the area, a small boat for rent for a day trip on the open sea, sailing, diving or windsurfing lessons. And then Scarlino is the borg, in the upper part of the village: a journey back in time, among monuments and architectural treasures of the medieval era, views that take your breath away.

A past that comes back, to give an unforgettable holiday.
